KS1

We provide UK curriculum aligned programmes for the core subjects. We provide a reader book, with accompanying lesson plans for each level and pupil activities. We use our fun Educational Paper Craft Packs, dies and other craft materials and provide clear teacher instructions to show how each element of the curriculum requirements is covered within the lessons.

Assessment is included throughout using the verbal and written pupil exercises. For pupils with learning disabilities we provide a powerpoint slide show and license schools to print out each sheet so that the pupil can work at their own pace.

KS1 Money and Finance Matters

Young adults often leave our school system with little knowledge regarding basic income and expenditure information. It therefore comes as little surprise that currently we have the lowest savings ratio in Europe and many people, of all ages, in the U.K. find money matters difficult. AB Curriculum together with partner companies have come together to deliver a ‘Money and Finance Matters’ programme covering key stage 1 to adult learning.

Our Key stage 1 module, built in partnership with Grant Thornton, uses a Money Maths classroom pack which is designed to engage and teach numeracy skills and financial awareness in primary education. It is vital to start the process of learning about money early and within this classroom pack there are thirteen action based activities, which use real examples of money to bring learning to life.

Activities in KS1; Types of coins, Classroom shop, Coin caterpillar, Making different totals of money, Ordering numbers, Class scale, Spider sums, Different ways to make ten/twenty, Adding money, Change, Halving money, Doubling money, Problem solving and Create a birthday party budget using an educational paper craft pack

For more information, download our Money and Finance Matters leaflet.

KS1 Olympic Games

We have created one of our wonderful reader book activity programmes, including a four week project using a die machine, dies and curriculum aligned exercises covering the Olympic Games. Download our information leaflet:

The Olympic Games Activity Guide

This provides four sessions/weeks (approximately four hours) of hands-on activity in which the pupils use the die machine and dies to create a foldout booklet about different aspects of the Olympic Games. This activity ends with the pupils creating their own Olympic Games instead of a sports day.

Poetry in Motion

This element of the reader programme provides pupils with a poetry aspect to read and “Let’s Communicate” discussion questions, which cover such ideas as; movement, speed, friendship, staying safe and bullying. Pupils compare humans to other animals. Depending upon the level of the pupils involved, the pupils can either read to others or be read to. They are then expected to complete the discussion questions involved. Pupils complete the ’Stay Safe’, ’Antibullying’ and ’My Family’ die activities and the matching ’My Family’ educational paper craft pack.

Olympic reader book

This part of the reader programme provides pupils with short, repeating sentences with the aim to aid pupils to recognise different words to do with the Olympic Games, for example; “I love judo.” Or “I love to fence.” Towards the end of this reader book, there is a section in which pupils are asked to copy certain Olympic words and act out sports.

Photocopiable Sheets

50 exercises for EYFS – KS4 aligned to the current science curriculum. Each of these exercises is photocopiable and was written by Dr. Carol Usher and Clare Watts. The sheets can be used in future for Sports Day.
